Description
Normandy and Brittany offer wonderful nature, history and culture. The terrain varies from the flatness of the northern landscape to the splendid bay at Mont St Michel. Sights range from the impressive beaches with their touching memories of World War II, to charming countryside and villages. You'll cycle through the northern Brittany countryside to the fortified town of St Malo and to wonderful Mont St Michel in Normandy. Later the D-Day landing beaches and museums and monuments are impressive reminders of recent history which will be visited extensively. In Bayeux you'll see Matilde's tapestry which retraces the story of William the Conqueror's crossing of the Channel and subsequent battle of Hastings in 1066. You'll end in the hotel in the middle of charming Bayeux where the cuisine is outstanding.
Bicycling
Easy to moderate riding, average 30 to 35 miles per day. Our knowledgable guide will bike with you and present you with the history and a support van/driver is also available to assist as needed. Bike rental of 24 speed hybrid bike is included in trip price.
