Description
This is a magnificent trip through the heartland of Catalunya in north eastern Spain. From initial easy riding on the almost flat terrain near the Mediterranean Sea the bicycling becomes rolling and challenging terrain with the Pyrenees as a backdrop. You'll visit a modern local winery, the wonderful Dali museum, the impressive ancient ruins at Empuries and many fortified historical towns located inland behind the coastline. You'll cycle near wonderful Girona where the US riders used to practice (but you don't do all the hills). You'll visit hidden villages tucked away into the woods and end in Olot in the natural park with dormant volcanoes. Hotels have been selected for their great locations, and restaurants for their excellent cuisine and local wines.
