Description
This special Germany trip will take you to the middle of the country in an area called Thuringia. This is the heartland of German culture and history where Luther, Goethe and Bach worked and lived. The Wartburg where Luther translated the bible, the house where Bach composed his masterpieces, the cottage where Goethe worked deep into the woods, the Bauhaus movement in Weimar, all can be visited. An excellent network of bicycle trails leads into the historical towns, along the rivers and through the lovely countryside. Magnificent scenery and charming towns will be along the way, paired with the cultural and historical content of this trip makes a great bicycle ride.

Easy to moderate, some short hills and rolling terrain around Ilmenau, average 25 - 35 miles per day.
