Arrival and Departure
Pick up at Eisenach train station (easy to reach from Frankfurt or Berlin), drop off at Frankfurt Airport.
Day by Day
Eisenach (2 nights): Visit the magnificent Wartburg castle where Luther translated the bible (and threw the inkpot at the devil)
Arnstadt (1 night): Ride along the Werra river, eat a Bratwurst, enjoy historical Gotha, visit the church in Arnstadt where Bach played.
Ilmenau (2 nights): some rolling terrain through woods in lovely surroundings, hike or bike to the cabin where Goethe wrote one of his most famous poems.
Weimar (2 nights): Ride along the rivers into historical Weimar, visit the Bauhaus exhibition, ride to the Buchenwald concentration camp.
Erfurt (2 nights): Walk the covered bridge in Erfurt, ride the green countryside, experience the local hoppy flavors in a small brewery.
