Allow your dreams to take shape as you follow the German Fairytale Route, which links the towns, villages and landscapes associated with the Brothers Grimm and their fairytales.

 

Relive your childhood as you cycle through the area where these iconic tales took shape - Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and more, visiting castles, exhibits, and forests said to house these childhood heroes.

Price includes 10 days/9 nights, 5 dinners and all breakfasts, accommodations in 4 star hotels in Bad Zwesten, Kassel, Trendelburg, Holzminden and Hameln; 4 two-night stays and 1 one-night stays.

Pick up and drop off at the Frankfurt airport. 

 

Day by Day

  • Bad Zwesten (2 nights): Stop on the way from Frankfurt in Steinau, paradise of youth of the Brothers Grimm, who lived here from 1791 to 1798.  To feel the atmosphere of this magical town, walk along the main street, visit the Brothers Grimm House which is now a Museum and walk to the Town Square to see the Fairytale Fountain. Stay in a lovely hotel in Bad Zwesten and enjoy a great welcome dinner. Cycle to the village where the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs originated.
     

  • Kassel (2 nights): Kassel is the “Capital of the German Fairy Tale Route.  It was here where the brothers Grimm spent the longest and most fruitful period of their lives and where the “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” were compiled, edited and translated into 160 languages. 
     

  • Trendelburg (2 nights):  Stay in a real castle where the braid of Rapunzel is still hanging from the tower. Cycle through the Reinhardswald (Reinhards Forest) where magic spells, sleeping princesses, witches and frightening beasts had their birth. Visit the Sleeping Beauty castle, enjoy a gourmet dinner.
     

  • Holzminden (1 night): Cycle on lovely well-paved paths along the river and stop in quaint villages for bratwurst and pommes.
     

  • Hameln (2 nights):  Ride along the river into the heart of Hameln, home of the tale of the Pied Piper. Visit the interesting historic old town center and the local shops. Ride along the river and delight in the farewell dinner.
